The Contender

"It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3

October 2018

Acts 20:19-24 “Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations (trials), which befell me…testifying…repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ…But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.”

Would that this be my heart-cry this very moment and in the remaining days of my life! Does it resonate with you? Read the ‘farewell to Ephesus’ of the Apostle Paul over again and again. Muse upon the words and ask yourself: ‘ought this to be my own final confession?’ O, LORD, take my life and let it be, as so consecrated Lord to Thee!

If you are able, listen to the 7-minute video of Pastor David Wilkerson: “Anguish” (Time Square Church of New York City).  Mix his sobering words with your musings on Acts 20:19-24.

Finally, behold intently upon ‘the present darkness of our own nation’s heart’ and consider: “Can I afford to be anything less than fully spent for the gospel of the grace of God in my own life?”
