The Contender

"It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3

Drop Your Own Net

Matthew 4:17-20 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent; for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. And they straightway left their nets and followed him.”

Luke 5:4-6, 10 “Now when he had left speaking, he said to Simon, Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net broke......And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all and followed him.”

Charles H. Spurgeon (1834-1892), pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London writes of Luke 5:4  “We learn from the narrative, the necessity of human agency. The draught of fishes was miraculous, yet neither the fisherman nor his boat, nor his fishing tackle were ignored; but all were used to take the fishes. So in the saving of souls, God worketh by means; and while the present economy of grace shall stand, God will be pleased by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe…Let us go out this morning on our work of soul fishing, looking up in faith, and around us in solemn anxiety. Let us toil till night comes, and we shall not labor in vain, for He who bids us 'let down the net', will fill it with fishes.”  (1 Cor. 15:58)

Solemn Assembly

I am asking that you prayerfully consider joining us on Sunday, October 30 from 2:30 - 4:15 pm at Brandywine Manor House, 120 Germany Hollow Road, Honey Brook, Pennsylvania, 19344.

The gathering will be just before the national election and will be dedicated to the following theme A Solemn Assembly: Heart Cry for America (A Time of Hope). I know this will impact your busy Sunday, yet, will be a timely, convenient hour that will accomplish at least two purposes: (1) it will provide an opportunity for the faith community to encourage the first responders and law enforcement families; and (2) it will be a public acknowledgement of our need for God’s forgiveness and mercy upon our nation.

I beg your feedback and willingness to encourage, promote and assist in this undertaking. I welcome hearing from you. See our contact information below.
