Subject: 1900 attend Heart-Cry for America solemn assembly to commemorate 10th anniversary of 9/11
Jack Crans
A near capacity audience consisting of all ages, cultural and church diversities, gathered on Sunday in the Sight and Sound Theater in Strasburg, Pennsylvania to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.
The mood throughout the event was solemn and it was further enhanced by urgent calls from the different speakers (see program) to call Americans “never to forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for America” but also “to repent of our wicked ways and return to a life in accordance with God and His Word”. The 1900 in attendance encouraged each of the speakers, musicians and other participants with generous applause and gave main speaker, Bob Vernon a standing ovation. The former Assistant-Chief of the Los Angeles Police Department and Founder/President of the Pointman Leadership Institute pressed home the principle of integrity. Both Bob Vernon and Frank Noonan, Commissioner of the Pennsylvania State Police, openly declared their faith in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Bob Vernon received a standing ovation
The Chester County Emerald Pipe Band and Pennsylvania State Police Ceremonial Unit added color and pomp to the event. They combined their skills during the Presentation of the Flag of the United States of America. The male voices of The Harmony Quartet and SFC Alex Helsabeck of the US Army Chorus rang out powerfully in the huge auditorium with songs like “Under God” and “If My People”. Sarah Timm, an actress at Sight and Sound Theater ended the event and presented the final heart cry, “Pie Jesu”.
Many attended the gathering dressed in uniform while several volunteer fire companies were in attendance. Two volunteer fire companies, Strasburg and Lafayette, worked together to hoist a giant American flag in front of the main entrance of the theater. The large flower displays and flags inside the auditorium were donated by private companies. All other expenses were carried by County Corrections Gospel Mission. Contributions towards the remaining event expenses can be still be made by means of the secure online facility.
County Corrections Gospel Mission facilitated this event but received critical and superb logistical support from Sight and Sound Theater as well as state, regional, county and local authorities.
Jack Crans, Chaplain of the Chester County Prison, closed the Solemn Assembly with the words of Psalm 20:1, 7
“The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble…Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God “.
