The Contender

"It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." Jude 1:3

October 2018

Acts 4:18,21, 23-31 “And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus...So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done…And being let go, they went to their own company and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they heard that, they lift up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hath made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ. For of a truth against the holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, for to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, by stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of they holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

Two Urgent Prayers

I was asked to preach in one of our faithful, supporting churches on Sunday, April 29. As in the text noted above, I went to ‘my own company and reported’ what God is doing and ask that we ‘lift up our voice to God with one accord’ and pray as did the faithful church with Peter and John: “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings and grant unto thy servants that with all boldness they may speak thy word.”

Two very urgent prayers herein cried out to God by the assembled early church: 1) “Oh, Lord, behold their threatenings!” 2) “ Oh, Lord, grant unto thy servants that with all boldness they may speak thy word!” Please note, God answered their requests: “…they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word with boldness.”

I know that this particular letter will be shared in the public media, as all such reports have been posted on our ministry’s webpage. However, I’ve never been more aware of ‘threatenings’ against ‘speaking or teaching in the name of Jesus.’ I am under such a threat at this very moment and I shall do all I can to inform a supporting, praying, church family of such circumstances. Speaking and heralding the word of God with boldness, though accompanied by great prayerfulness, will require a very real cost to the servants of God. This is “21st Century Missions!”

I want to take this moment to thank you for being a very special part of ‘my own company’ to whom I can come and report what great things God is doing. Together for the Gospel ought we to be praying: “Lord, behold their threatenings and grant unto thy servants that with all boldness we may speak thy word.”

Pointman Leadership Institute

I Need Your Help

Commencing on Saturday, May 5th, we need your encouragement and your prayerful assistance in helping us host near to 50 international instructors and regional directors who make up the core leadership of Pointman Leadership Institute (PLI).  In my March letter I asked for your willingness to assist in helping me access many of these faithful servants who will be arriving at the Philadelphia Airport on Saturday and Sunday, May 5th and May 6th and be returning on Thursday and Friday, May 10th and 11th. The very humble venue you have helped us to revive, Camp at Old Mill, will be the strategic site for hosting this timely and needful PLI International Summit.

Pray for Sue and the gracious team of volunteers who will help her host and prepare meals for these very challenging and exciting days. I’m hoping to hear from many of you who are willing to embrace the bold and exemplary servants of God who will be coming to us from police concerns in Thailand, Bolivia, Nigeria, South Africa, United Kingdom and throughout the United States. I will be calling upon many of you for specific help ‘for such a time as this’ and I ask supporting pastors to join with me in making this a powerful gathering for the courageous leaders who will be joining with us. Many of the lives we will be hosting are the very leaders who are willingly spent in most dangerous places of ‘threatenings’ for the cause of the Gospel around the world. Please contact me using the contact information below.

May 12th through May 16th, we shift our labors to Washington, D.C. and Arlington, Virginia for the hosting of a police-missionary-team (22+) who will be arriving to minister to the 35,000 police and police families who will gather from all over the nation and the world to encourage and pray for the ‘line-of-duty-deaths’ which have increasingly occurred in this growing, present Darkness.

Pray for Executive Director of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial: Mr. Craig Floyd. Pray for the peace of our nation(s) and for those ordained of God who willingly lay down their lives to protect us!

Camp at Old Mill

Work teams, recruiting of summer counselors and camp staff are routine concerns from day-to-day. The ‘Camp at Old Mill’ anticipates a busy Spring and Summer of solemn assemblies, retreats and the most vital embrace of precious, needful boys and girls, most whom represent the urgent heart-cries of compromised families.

May it never be forgotten that County Corrections Gospel Mission is not a camp, but, a mission raised up of God to address the reflected urgencies of the criminal justice system and to accomplish this ‘biblically’ in obedience to the Great Commission. Thank you to each of you who not only understand this, but, have made our labors possible for more than 44 years.

Together for the Gospel

In closing, I am asking you to encourage our partner ministries of the ‘Bridge Academy Community Center’ and also, the “Providence/Coatesville’ Church” which are led by the shepherding hearts of Jordan Crans and Joshua Crans, respectively. A great time to come and encourage us is Sunday Nights @ 6:00 pm at the BACC.

Thank You for Caring, for Reading, and for Praying!

Jack Crans, Acts 5:17-42
