What Terrible Responsibility I Own

Romans 11:33-12:1-3 “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or, who hath been his counselor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.”

Romans 9:20-24 “Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor? What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath, fitted for destruction: And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, Even us, whom he hath called, not the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?”

Romans 10:4 “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth.”

If I’m audacious enough to say that Christ is my righteousness, my Savior and Lord; Oh, what awesome (or is it "terrible"?) responsibility you and I own for HIS GLORY!

Really, dearest ones, please just slow down, cease from all you are doing and embrace the fullest sense of accountability we ‘confessors’ and ‘repenters’ presently owe to Him who has forgiven our sins and adopted us into His promised ‘rest’.  (Romans 4:7,8)

We’re living in a time when it seems most leadership is “wearing no clothes”. I say this only in the context of the Hans Christian Anderson fable: ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Only the innocence and honesty of a child seemed able to reveal the depth of untruth that is pervasive in our present society. If ever God fully unveils our unworthiness and vital need for His truth, let is be now!

What if we were measured by God right now concerning our sin, our passion for perishing souls, our investment of resources and spending of time, our thankfulness for God’s mercies in our own lives and our willing service in His mandated commissions: “ye are my witnesses” and “deliver those who are ready to be slain?” Will He find us Faithful, Thankful, Watchful, Prayerful…Serving?

There is enough quoted above if soberly mused upon and considered that ought to break our hearts and awaken us ‘for such a time as this.’

Redeeming the Time with Prayerfulness!

Jesus Calls Us

Jesus calls us: o'er the tumult
of our life's wild, restless sea;
day by day his sweet voice soundeth
saying, "Christian, follow me."

Jesus calls us from the worship
of the vain world's golden store,
from each idol that would keep us,
saying, "Christian, love me more."

In our joys and in our sorrows,
days of toil and hours of ease,
still he calls, in cares and pleasures,
"Christian, love me more than these."

Jesus calls us: by thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear thy call,
give our hearts to thy obedience,
serve and love thee best of all.

July 23: Chris Gnanakan

Dr. Chris Gnanakan will be the guest speaker on July 23 at Camp at Old Mill as part of the 2017 Fourth Sunday Solemn Assembly Series.

Chris is Executive Director of Outreach to Asian Nationals  and professor of Global Studies/Theology at Liberty University. Read his biography here.

The Urgent Heart-cries Of Prison

My present communications and labors always originate, mature and find definition in the urgent heart-cries of the prison! Any close study of the last 40 years of my life will indicate that we have continued to biblically address the reflected urgencies of the criminal justice system.

It is very true that God ordains our degree of ‘reach’ both locally and ‘to the regions beyond.’ Initiatives and influence from Chester County Prison to South Sudan and South Africa are very real. Precious concerns are being addressed amidst many devout followers of Jesus Christ within the context of law enforcement, corrections and willing, local churches.

We are clearly at another threshold moment in our mission’s life and facing exciting opportunities. However, unless we continue to prayerfully assess and strategically plan, we will fail to rightly finish what God has clearly ordained for our lives.

Prayer Is Needed For...

• The remaining Fourth Sunday Night Solemn Assemblies on July 23 and August 27.

• The upcoming CCGM Board of Directors’ meeting on Friday, August 25. We are asking God to manifest His fullest will and continued provision for this ministry. I can assure you that this is a very pivotal meeting and I promise you an open declaration of all that remains for us to do.

• The maturing Providence: Coatesville Church weighs heavy on my heart. I desire that staff and all our faithful partners consider to visit, encourage and pray for Joshua and Jordan as they embrace this much needed work. No evangelistic effort will have any lasting fruit unless there be the effectual working of a Bible-believing, obedient church. This initiative truly is “Foundations-to-Missions 101”. It might sound bold to some, but I truly believe that urgency and opportunity exist for considerable investment to seize what are presently ‘timely concerns of our fullest future hope in this undertaking.’ I’d gladly discuss specifics with anyone sensing any thoughts of engagement. (In this regard, muse on Acts 19:13-20)

• Behold Your God sessions at Chester County Prison every Tuesday. More than 50 men are currently enrolled.

• Malachi Dads every Monday night at the Chester County Prison Reentry Center.
